Tubewise privacy policy
Last updated: 2 November 2026
Tubewise is a browser extension that helps you organise your YouTube subscriptions and hide distracting parts of the page such as Shorts, recommendations and comments. This page explains exactly what data it touches and where that data lives.
In short
- Tubewise stores data only on your device, inside your browser (
chrome.storage.local). - It does not send, sell or share your data with me or anyone else.
- It contains no analytics, telemetry, ads, fingerprinting or third-party tracking.
What data is processed
When you click Refresh subscriptions, Tubewise asks YouTube for your own subscription list, using the same endpoints youtube.com uses and the session you are already signed in with. For each channel it stores the channel ID and handle, the name and avatar URL, when it was last seen in your subscriptions, and the tags you or the auto-tagger gave it.
Your own tags, your channel blocklist and your settings (theme, which parts of YouTube to hide) are stored alongside.
What is not processed
- Tubewise does not read your browsing history, cookies, passwords, payment details or location.
- It does not change your YouTube account: it never subscribes, unsubscribes, comments or likes anything.
- It makes no network requests except to YouTube itself (
youtube.com/feed/channelsandyoutube.com/youtubei/v1/browse). Channel avatars load as ordinary images from the URLs YouTube returns.
Permissions
storage: keeps your tags, blocklist and settings between browser sessions, locally only.
youtube.com: lets Tubewise hide Shorts, recommendations and comments, apply your blocklist, show the tag bar on your subscriptions feed and read your subscription list.
Deleting your data
To keep a copy first, open the Tubewise dashboard and click Export under Backup. To delete everything, remove Tubewise on chrome://extensions; Chrome deletes all its stored data with it.
Children
Tubewise is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information.
